RMJM, Broadway Malyan and Godwin, Austen & Johnston (CAJ) have submitted proposals for a new residential development at the Dubai Expo 2020 site in the United Arab Emirates
The three firms submitted bids for the project – featuring serviced apartments and residential units –to expo client Dubai World Trade Centre – according to MEED.
The project is expected to feature a series of podiums and be split into four sectors. Supporting infrastructure such as roads will also be included.
It will be constructed at the Dubai World Trade Centre’s 440 hectare Jebel Ali development where the £4.75 billion expo will take place in five years’ time.
HOK and Arup were appointed to masterplan the enormous 150 hectare exhibition site last summer.
The duo worked on Dubai’s earlier winning bid for the exhibition and are expected to reveal a more detailed masterplan later this year.
Dubai beat Sao Paulo in Brazil, Yekaterinburg in Russia and Izmir in Turkey to win the rights to host the high-profile global event in November 2013.
The expo – themed ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ – will be the first ever to be held in the Middle East and North Africa & South Asia region.
The venue will be expected to accommodate up to 300,000 visitors.
