Joining forces to help London's Olympic bid, the RIBA's London region and English Heritage are about to launch a publication celebrating how the capital has transformed its attitude to the public realm. A report, Capital Spaces: Transforming London, will be launched at the Wellington Arch on 8 February.

It covers not just the obvious showcases of improvements, like Trafalgar Square, but smaller, local improvements and those planned for the future at massive scale - notably the Lower Lea Valley.

Much of the work on this has been done by Simon Foxell, whose commitment to the London cause is as impressive as ever.
