Allies + Morrison, the RIBA's house architect, has unveiled a series of 42 projects aimed at giving the institute's headquarters at 66 Portland Place a major facelift. The projects range in cost from £15,000 to £350,000 with the most expensive being a new lift. A+M's Robert Maxwell said the strategy will include freeing up more space on the ground floor and in the basement for regular use by members and the public. A ground floor members room will be created with internet connections; the basement cloakrooms may become a photographic gallery with new storage facilities and the council chamber will become less 'adversarial'.
