The University of Montpellier

The University of Montpellier is on the look-out for architects to assist in giving its campus a more ‘Mediterranean’ image. For the project they are seeking ‘eco-responsible development (“hyperdurable”), urban integration and improved livability services.’

The university has 53,000 students and a built area of 500,000m², covering 840 ha. One of the one-hundred oldest universities in the world - with students ranging from Petrarch to Nostradamus, today it is one of France’s most important centres for research.

The contract is for a strategic concept and its implementation to provide an eco-campus for the 21st Century. Selected firms will receive 50,000 Euros. Phase 1 is worth 75,000 Euros.

The deadline for applications is 4pm on 19 July and the application language is French.

Chamber Swiss Council of States

The Swiss Federal Government is on the hunt for an architect to work on the upgrade of the Swiss Council of States Chamber in Bern.

The Swiss Federal Government (Bundesversammlung) consists of the 200-seat National Council (Nationalrat), and the 46-seat Council of States (Ständerat), with the smaller Council generally considered to be an Upper House.

The Neo-Renaissance style building dating back over a hundred years is considered to be of great historic value and is an important Listed structure.

The Chamber, 2 antichambers and President’s Office were last renovated in 2001. Following the general renovations outside these areas undertaken between 2006 and 2008, technical installations and furnishings in the Chamber, which is on the first-floor level of the Parliament, are now to be updated and improved.

An architect (also as general project planner, with electrics and HVAC engineering) is required for the upgrading of the Council of States Chamber’s technical installations and furnishings. The scope of the project also includes: General renovation and adaptation, security, fire and emergency exits, replacement flooring, translators’ facilities, technical installations and networks including elmectronic voting, sound system, ventilation, fresh-air circulation, lighting, heating, acoustics, adaptation or restoration fo furnishings and work areas.

The deadline for applications is at 11:55pm on 21 July and the application language is German.

Marseille Land is seeking an architect for the renovation of the Eden Theatre in La Ciotat. The site includes a 200-seat auditorium and 2 buildings of 328 m² and 771 m².

The Eden was built in 1889 for theatre, concerts and sporting events, and is officially the oldest cinema having been used for the projection of film in 1889.

The value of the project is 3,700,000 Euros.
