News

The RIBA's house architect Allies and Morrison has toned down its plans to rework the council chamber and foyer at its listed Portland Place HQ after strong criticism from the Twentieth Century Society.Head of projects Martin Pascoe told the AJ the council chamber will now retain its original furniture, although alterations to the floor to improve access and lessen its 'hierarchical' nature will still be made. The society also attacked proposed changes to the foyer's decorative ceiling as 'brutal' in a just-published casework report, although concessions were made a month ago. Pascoe said he would 'take [the society] to task' over the matter.
