The riba and the Association of Project Management have come closer together with the signing of a joint memorandum on future collaboration. This will follow up the success of the joint riba Certificate in Project Management, leading to Membership of the Association for Project Management, with a specially tailored course leading to qualification as a Certificated Project Manager. For riba members the course will be adapted to include significant content on architecture and construction.
Warner Lofts has launched its Paramount Building in Clerkenwell from an initial design concept by Circus Architects. The building on St John Street is a former 1930s Dr Scholl factory now featuring a nine-storey glazed lightwell leading to 32 loft-style apartments, each with a balcony or terrace. The three one-bedroom and 28 two-bedroom flats, and one penthouse, will be completed next month - prices start at £225 per square foot. Unit prices range from £240,000 to £1.5 million.
An 8.5-tonne wheel of steel and glass flags up a new rhwl arts centre. Made by artist Richard Wilson, it marks the five storeys of Stockton- on-Tees' Arc, a 275-seat theatre with spaces for jazz, cabaret, ballet and bars. Its £8 million cost was mostly funded by the Arts Council Lottery. The 8m-diameter wheel turns twice every hour; 400 miles a year, says the artist.
