Work has started on a 560 metre-tall skyscraper by Farrells in Jinan, China

Foundation works have reportedly completed on the 1.1million m² project which could become China’s second tallest tower.

Featuring apartments, offices, entertainment spaces and shops, the Evergrande building is planned as a landmark for city’s new Shandong central business district.

Farrell’s tower for developer Hengda will be shorter than Gensler’s 632 metre-high Shanghai Tower which is planned to complete in 2014. China’s current tallest building is the 492 meter-high Shanghai World Financial Centre by KPF.

The Guangzhou-based development company is said to be China’s biggest property developer by sales volume.

Farrells UK arm, Terry Farrell and Partners reported a pre-tax loss of £108,078 for the year ending 31 March 2012, down from £301,682 the previous year. Turnover meanwhile fell to £4.9 million from £5.4 million.
