Delivering A Sustainable Athletes’ Village: 15 May 2012 - 8:00am - 10:00am

“Interested in residential and mixed-use development? Want to learn more about building to Code for Sustainable Homes? The Olympic and Paralympic Village is on track to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 and serves as a BREEAM Communities pilot project. There is much we can learn about sustainable community design by using the Olympic and Paralympic Village as a case study.

The Village, which lies adjacent to the Olympic Park and Stratford City, will comprise nearly 3,000 residential apartments for 17,000 athletes and officials during the Games, along with shops, restaurants, medical, media and open space across 27 hectares of land, the equivalent to St James’s Park. After the Games, it will be converted to a high-density, mixed tenure community of 50-50 private & affordable housing.

This Breakfast Session will provide a holistic perspective on creating a sustainable residential development from the entire project team - from client to architect to supplier. The project team responsible for delivering the Olympic Athletes’ Village will make up the high-profile panel, who will be openly and honestly debating the successes and challenges of delivering a sustainable venue for the London 2012 Olympic Park. These key lessons can be used as a catalyst for influencing your business practice and future projects.
