[PLANS + SECTONS + ELEVATIONS] The AJ can reveal previously unseen plans and technical drawings of Foreign Office Architects’ (FOA)recently completed Ravensbourne College close to the Millennium dome
The £70 million ‘university sector’ college, specialising in digital media and design, features a tesselated facade which the practice describes as a ‘non-periodic tiling system symbolising a more diverse and contemporary approach to technology’.
The eight-storey 21,500m2 building centres around ‘two interconnected atria, each piercing through three levels of program’.
FOA claims the building will reach a BREEAM qualification of environmental excellence through ‘optimum environmental performance, low maintenance and high flexibility’ with a very low ratio of façade to area.
