Quiet days for cliche

The difference between a tower house and a castle is 'the pretension of the owner,' according to Lord Steel, the former Liberal leader. He was commenting on a new study by Professor Charles McKean, which explains why so many Scottish chateaux are called castles by their owners. Now there's a campaign to persuade tourist boards 'to drop cliched images'. Call me a cynic, but where would British tourism be without them?
