Work on PRP Architects' £56 million River Green project for Islington council has got under way with last week's demolition of the remaining 1970s low-rise flats on the former Marquess Estate. The project, which is being undertaken in partnership with Southern Housing Group and Copthorn Homes, is expected to transform a crime-ridden estate into one of high standard accommodation. The demolished buildings will be replaced by 308 new homes, an improved network of roads, open spaces and landscaping, community facilities, shops, workspaces and a youth club.
