PRP has won a job to redevelop the former St Paul's Hospital site in Winchester city centre. The practice is to design 53 new homes, 24 of them in converted hospital buildings, the others new build; landscaping; and a new doctor's surgery, dental practice and pharmacy. The Gleeson Homes scheme has been developed to meet a stringent council brief, with input from English Heritage on the retention of a number of historic buildings. A number of others, however, including the post-1885 day hospital and Osmond/Carter ward block, will be demolished. Parking spaces will be limted to 1.2 per dwelling. Work is due on site in late spring.
