HELVAR Blitz lighting lets Imagine run wild The redesigned exhibition space and refurbished gallery at Merseyside Maritime Museum is providing the perfect backdrop for Helvar's Imagine custom lighting controls. For the museum's 'Spirit of the Blitz' exhibition, the Imagine system has been configured to address each group of luminaires individually, and enhance the exhibits. When an exhibition ends, the system is simply reprogrammed to accommodate the requirements of the new show. A push-button control panel provides user-friendly operation. Imagine was installed by EPI Ashdale Engineering Services.

CORUS BUILDING SYSTEMS No crimping for museum roof curves The specifier's natural choice at the new Open Museum at South Nitshill, Glasgow, was a Kalzip standing-seam roof with a stucco-embossed finish. With an extremely tight curve at the eaves, Kalzip was the only material that could achieve the complex 1.5m radius without distortion or crimping. The sheets were rolled and curved at Kalzip's Haydock factory and installed by approved contractor Grainger Building Services. A custom ridge system, using sliding clips, accommodates thermal movement.

ICI Paints create a sense of history Dulux Trade paint from ICI played a major part in the redecoration of London's Royal Albert Hall, part of a major programme of development which was completed last December. The paints were tinted to match the interior design, with vibrant reds in the auditorium and lighter shades of green and cream in the gallery and foyer areas.

TORMAX New operators take on heavyweight doors Weighing 200kg each, the two pairs of bronze and blast-resistant glass-panelled automatic sliding doors at the British Library's main entrance are opened and shut by Swissengineered TXP units from Tormax, installed as part of a programme of refurbishment. The TXP is capable of opening double-leaf doors of up to 400kg with quiet movement, and remaining highly sensitive to obstructions through a double set of infrared safety beams.

LS LEADERFLUSH SHAPLAND Doorsets keep theatre acoustics in check The layout of the TR2 building at Plymouth Theatre Royal is organised so that quiet rehearsal spaces are separated from other areas, but linked to a communal route via acoustic lobbies. LS Leaderflush Shapland flushed acoustic doorsets have been used to provide sound reduction at either end of the lobbies, and painted red to form a distinctively punctuated route. With enhanced acoustic performance ranging from 32-49dBRw, they incorporate the latest construction and seal techniques.

DUPONT Membrane breathes new life into church Inspired by the design of an ancient Irish hill fort, the newly rebuilt St Bernard's Church in Belfast has been constructed using natural materials. Crowning the building is black Spanish slate, cut into rhomboid tiles to lap around the circumference, and secured to tile battens. Beneath this, a membrane of flexible Du Pont Tyvek Supro minimises the risk of condensation, protecting the building envelope.
