'The sandwich has over- reached itself and become more and more like a mid-80s postmodern office block,' he complains. What does Glancey pine for? 'I have a primitive or purist view of the sandwich,' he announces. 'Ham or bacon stuffed artlessly between two slices of fresh white fluffy bread.'
