John Prescott made a surprise appearance at this week's first annual CABE get-together. Ken Shuttleworth, Paul Monaghan, Sunand Prasad, Nicholas Serota, John Sorrell, DEMOS chief Tom Bentley and Rem Koolhaas also attended. While Koolhaas used the occasion to praise the aesthetic qualities of 'ugliness', Prescott took the opportunity to lash out at a few targets.

The press predictably came in for a battering, along with Prezza's old friends English Heritage. 'Sometimes English Heritage surprises me and supports an application, ' said the charismatic Deputy Prime Minister. Ouch.
