RIBA president Paul Hyett pledged to continue Marco Goldschmied's work in raising the profile of environmental issues.

He also launched an attack on the conservation lobby for placing obstacles in the way of new technologies such as wind farms, while protecting redundant structures such as Battersea Power Station. And although Goldschmied's scheme to erect two turbines on the roof of the RIBA head office was a 'simple initiative', Hyett said it was a 'huge symbol of the way we can build buildings in this country as part of a wider ecological agenda'.
