Practice of the Year: Regions

Practices are awarded based on the survey responses of more than 1,000 AJ100 employees, who were asked about where they would most like to work, staff satisfaction, benefits, salaries and HR achievements

London & South-East: Make


The 100 per cent employee- owned Make continues to be a very popular place to work with its staff, as was recognisedby its appearance in The Sunday Times’ top 100 small companies to work for.

This week Purcell Miller Tritton rebrands as Purcell, and the restoration and conservation specialist can celebrate its new name with two Practice of the Year Awards, North-East & Yorkshire and North-West, with the happiest staff in England from the Humber to the Tweed, from Manchester to Barrow-in-Furness. ‘Their specialism means that they are weathering the recession better than most,’ says one staffer, while many enjoy the opportunity to practice architecture ‘in the countryside’. Another enjoyed the practice’s ‘high-quality work for prestigious historic buildings’.
