Portmeirion is no fly-by-night

Astragal remarks (AJ 19.3.98) that 'Portmeirion-on-Thames is the rather unkind soubriquet that has been applied . . . to the Millennium Village, close to the Dome on the Greenwich Pen insu la' .

Indeed, it is most unkind - to Portmeirion. What on earth has that 60-year-old creation done to be compared with the latest fly-by-night, to be built (apparently) on a Thamesside swamp?
