Populous – formerly known as HOK Sport – has won the biggest architectural jobs remaining on the Olympic site in Stratford, estimated to worth approximately £350 million.
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has appointed the firm, together with Allies & Morrison and Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, to carry out the massive job of fitting out all the new buildings and ensuring they, and temporary venues, are fit for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The scope covers 36 competition venues within and outside the Olympic park as well as a number of non-competition venues including the Olympic Village, the International Broadcast Centre and Main Press Centre.
London 2012 Chairman Sebastian Coe said: ‘Ensuring venues are shipshape for Games-time use is a logistical challenge. Both new and existing venues will require additional work to ensure that they are operational and meet the unique criteria of the Games.’
