Plymouth City Council is expected to give planning permission next week for a new £150 million shopping centre to be designed by architect Chapman Taylor. The go-ahead for the 6.5ha site comes after the government waived the need for a public inquiry. 'There were only 11 objections which is nothing for a development which will substantially change the face of the town centre,' said Plymouth development control manager, Graham Clark. The 50-unit development will be on the site of the existing Drake's Circus shopping centre which will be demolished.
