The British Olympic Association (BOA) is planning to open an Olympic Park museum close to Anish Kapoor’s ArcelorMittal Orbit tower
Scheduled to open in 2014, the museum would celebrate London’s achievement as the first city in the world to host the Olympic Games three times.
The museum’s design and content have yet to be finalised however the BOA is currently fundraising for the project.
Negotiations are also underway with the Olympic Park Legacy Company to reach a final licensing agreement in the forthcoming weeks.
BOA chair Colin Moynihan described the museum as the ‘perfect way to ensure the spirit, excitement and unforgettable memories of the London 2012 Games live on to inspire future generations to follow their own dreams.’
Boris Johnson said it would ‘help ensure the Olympic Park attracts visitors to the park for generations to come.’
