Camden Council has refused all six planning applications to remodel North London’s Witanhurst House – the largest private residence in London bar Buckingham Palace
Camden Council’s development control committee met last night to discuss the plans, drawn up by London architect Robert Adam, that include proposals for an extensive basement extension.
The applications for the Grade II-listed building include
- Demolition of the southern boundary wall
- Construction of a basement extension in the front forecourt area
- Demolition of the service wing, remodelling of the front façade and construction of a new Orangery building
The committee also considered the building’s Grade II-listed status in conjunction with each application.
Full details of the decision will be available over the next two weeks, once the council has approved minutes of the meeting.
