PINTER THEATRE, CROYDON

  • Comment
LEVITT BERNSTEIN ASSOCIATES

This project is a new-build substitute for the Warehouse Theatre, which has been given notice to quit its current premises.

The theatre is envisaged as a single volume housing audience and stage, similar to the existing theatre but larger and with audience access to three sides and actors' access all round by means of demountable timber walls. This will permit a large number of stage and audience configurations.

The site is close to the very busy East Croydon Station, and the building will be set on anti-vibration mountings. It will be visible from the station and hides the unattractive view of the Fairfield Hall's car park.
