The British Urban Regeneration Agency has made Bernadette Marjoram its first woman chair and its first from the public sector. She is director of community services at East Hertfordshire Council and former chief executive of Brixton Challenge.

Davis Langdon & Everest has promoted Peter Boote, Stuart Johnston, Steve Lacey and Simon Rawlinson in London, and Gary Lockey in Leeds, to salaried partner. Bob Ames, Peter Flint, Ian Memmott, Bruce Paterson, Andrew Smith, Guy Solway, Steve Watts and Paul Wilcock become associates.

Peter Bates has been promoted to regional director at Shepherd Construction North West, directly responsible to Shepherd Construction's main board for the North West region.

The building division of the Raymond Brown Group, based in Ringwood, Hampshire, has changed its name from Trefelen to Raymond Brown Building. John Hoyle has been appointed managing director (designate) and Norman Anton has become construction manager. The group has also set up a company in Witney, Oxfordshire, called Worsham Quarry, involved in quarrying stone, recycling and landfill operations.

Specialist glazing company Portal has opened its first Scottish office at 7 Melville Terrace, Stirling. It will be headed by Duncan Nicol, who was previously with Bovis Construction. The company is also opening an office in Dublin.
