FJ Samuely and Partners has become a limited company as F J Samuely and Partners Limited. Ian SingletonGreen is chairman, Tom Schollar is managing director, and Trevor Scott and Peter Crocombe are directors of the company.

The Association of Consulting Engineers has appointed Craig Beaumont as assistant director.

Beaumont has a postgraduate qualification in legislative studies and is former parliamentary support officer at Number 10 Downing Street.

The ACE Council has also elected former ACE chairman John Bowcock as honourary member of the assocation in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the association and to mark his retirement from the profession.

Andrew Gilbert and Michael Griffiths, formerly partners at Michael Squire and Partners, have set up a new architectural and design practice based in London. Cris Bage has joined Newcastlebased architects Ryder Company as a senior technician. His expertise includes the management of large national roll-out programmes, his most recent assignment being the development of a 240-unit housing project in Romford.

Michael Dickson, founding partner of Buro Happold, has been appointed chairman of the Construction Industry Council. He will serve until June 2002. Dickson follows in the footsteps of the late professor Ted Happold who was the CIC's first chairman.
