Penoyre & Prasad has won planning permission for this project to re-clad the Guy’s Hospital tower in London

Approved by Southwark Council last week, the £30 million project revamps the 40-year old tower, cleaning its concrete and cladding an ancillary service tower in anodized aluminium panelling.

Sunand Prasad said: ‘We are delighted to have unanimous approval for this project, which we believe will yield valuable lessons for the thousands of buildings of the same period that must be upgraded and improve their energy efficiency’.

The 34-storey building was designed by Watkins Gray and completed in 1974.

There are also plans to place an artist-designed light installation at the top of the tower.
