Foster and Partners director Robin Partington has quit to join Hamilton Associates.

Partington, 41, said he had ended his 17-year tenure at Fosters to seek new challenges, despite having had a 'fantastic time' at the practice. 'It was a bit like becoming a teenager. After 17 years, it was time to leave home, ' he said.

He added: 'My brief is to take the practice on to bigger and better things. I will be implementing design rigour across the base and seeking higherprofile projects for the practice. I will be responsible for the design direction of the practice.'

Partington will work alongside chairman Tim Hamilton, who has led the practice for more than 30 years.Hamilton said: 'Robin is here to move the practice towards the cutting edge of design and to help us penetrate new market sectors, including infrastructure, cultural, sports, education and international work.'
