[FIRST LOOK] Panter Hudspith Architects look set to make its high-rise debut with this 22-storey tower in London’s Elephant & Castle
The 69m-tall south London scheme, known as 88-93 Newington Causeway, would replace a soon-to-be-demolished bank building and house 38 new homes, two floors of offices and a small café/kiosk unit at ground floor level.
Submitted for planning with Southwark Council, the triangular building will be built from from a light pre-cast concrete together with solid infill panels ‘of a contrasting hue and texture’.
The practice said: ‘We are excited by the confidence that the client, Neobrand have in the project and their commitment to start work on site in the early part of next year.
‘This tower has been conceived as one of the gateway buildings into the regenerated Elephant & Castle and we are hopeful that it will make a major contribution into delivering regeneration in that area.’
Public consultation on the plans ends on Saturday (07.11.09)
