Objections without a political prejudice

The article on the No 1 Poultry scheme (aj 5.11.98) kindly mentions my efforts to prevent the demolition of the listed buildings on the site.

I would like to re-emphasise that although throughout that period my husband was an mp and a government minister, I always made it clear publicly that I acted as an independent professional.

On that basis I represented the National Amenity Societies, the Council for British Archaeology and others at the three public inquiries into the scheme.
