Spare a thought for Work , the Dome zone designers.

After the highs of that project, they have been brought down to earth with a bang by being refused planning permission for a proposed ground floor frontage to our new building in Charlotte Road, Shoreditch. The reason given by the conservation officer was that the design is too modern. He wants a Neo-Victorian job with a repro panelled front door and 'traditional glazing patterns' to the windows, complete with stallriser. The firm walked him a couple of doors along to the recently finished Prince's Foundation ('Regeneration Through Heritage'); he hadn't seen it before but pronounced that it was an unsuitable precedent - because it is too contemporary. Blimey.
