Forbes, has an aesthetics BA from UCSC and was founder of the leading US design retailer, Design within Reach. OK, his latest venture, Forbes Studio is a commercial venture and the site will eventually run product design – but newsletters so far have been a collection of snaps taken on holidays and trips - accompanied by nice, not very deep observations.
But hey, who wants deep when the snaps are so good. He doesn't say it exactly but I guess you could call his photographic subjects found design. One of his enthusiasts who urged me to notice his blog (which I've been signed up to for some time) has it exactly right when she says there's 'something so pleasing about someone who goes on holiday to Croatia and takes a whole set of photos of clothes pegs.'
