To the Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions for the retirement party of Steve Mullin, one of the last senior architects in the department. It seems that an interest in the environment, courtesy of regeneration policy, has increased just as 'environment' has been removed from Eland House and handed over to the so-called Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. (In civil service circles this has been renamed the Department for the Elimination of Agriculture. ) A splendid turnout for the party included Cedric Price accompanied by Miss Eleanor Bron, Bernard Hunt, author Paul Barker, and David Levitt. Mullin will be active on a number of fronts, including keeping an interest in the running of the housing Design Awards, and Europan, where he has represented the department in recent years.
