Future Systems is upset.

Amanda Levete and Jan Kaplicky were at the RIBA awards ceremony last week, held at their Stirling Prize-winning NatWest Media Centre at Lord's.

They were less than happy to discover that the baby blue carpet they specified for the building, which used to sweep down from the rear window curvaceously, has mysteriously vanished and has been replaced by a dark blue hued series of patterned carpet tiles, of all things. And, according to them, another architect is to blame. Cue Kaplicky in rather an earnest discussion with (nowdeparted) RIBA director-general Alex Reid. Perhaps Lord's isn't quite the exemplary client one imagined.
