Not a full-on monarchistwhen it comes to names

  • Comment

I am not a republican; I want the monarchy to continue. But I do object to features being named after our present monarch in full. It is true that we have plenty of Victorias and even Alexandras as precedents, but they are named simply that, without 'Queen' or 'Princess', let alone a number at the end. If the Queen Elizabeth II Great Court had been called simply the Elizabeth Court that would have been fine; alternatively it could have been named after someone connected with the British Museum - unfortunately not the architect, as his name, Smirke, is not resonant enough!

David W Lloyd, Essex
