No architecture in housing? Think again

  • Comment

David Taylor's excellent article about the new-look Prince of Wales's Foundation and its recently appointed head, Adrian Gale (aj 20/27.8.98), deserves comment.

Adrian claims Chris Wilkinson said, 'There's no architecture in housing,' and adds that he understands what Chris means but intends to overcome it and demonstrate in deeds that housing is an architectural matter.

Perhaps Adrian ought to brush the cobwebs off his architectural history books, prior to delivering his next lecture? Is my hearing aid defective, or do I hear Robert Adam, John Nash and Edwin L Lutyens spinning in their graves?
