Guidance on the design, planning and building of healthcare facilities is included in a new Space for Health website being launched by the Department of Health

AHMM - Kentish Town Health Centre, Timothy Soar

It is aimed at all those involved in healthcare projects, including architects, engineers, construction professionals, estates and facilities managers, NHS facility commissioners and healthcare planners.

It will also contain advice on health technical memoranda and health-building notes for all involved in the procurement and management of NHS and non-NHS healthcare providers.

The site is being run in conjunction with Northern Ireland’s Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety, Health Facilities Scotland and Welsh Health Estates.

Users will be able to shift between different guidance regimes and access nation-specific information, depending on which country their project is in.

All potential users have been invited to test the system on stand C55 at the IHEEM Healthcare Estates Conference in Harrogate.

Health Minister, Mike O’Brien said: ‘This brings together all the guidance in one easy to access website. Space for Health goes one step further in providing region-specific information on procurement, management, design and planning of healthcare facilities.’
