News: Six at the tee

  • Comment

Six widely differing firms are understood to have been shortlisted from 68 applicants to design a 'flagship' golf clubhouse and 12-bedroom Dormy House for Cowdray Park Golf Club in Midhurst, West Sussex. They are Allies and Morrison, Harding, Neal and Watson, Mungo Park Architects, Godwin Austin Johnson, contractor Kajima and multidisciplinary giant WS Atkins. The £1.2 million project, a riba competition, is for a site at the foot of the South Downs overlooking the ruins of Cowdray House, a Tudor mansion burned down in 1793. It forms part of Viscount Cowdray's 7000ha estate.
