Now that Britain is to adopt droit de suite, a levy payable to an artist by the vendor whenever a work of art is sold, will this apply to works of architecture?
The levy will be payable on any work of art valued at more than £1,800 and although the percentage may be small it could amount to a worthwhile sum when applied to present building values.
I look forward to receiving a return on the one-off houses I designed in the '60s for a fee of a few hundred pounds. They cost £5,000 to £6,000 to build and are now selling for about £1 million.
