The latest in a series of practice profiles looking at architects who have recently decided to go it alone either through choice or redundancy

Founded: March 2013

Where have you come from?
Natasha worked at Max Fordham and Rolfe Judd, where she met Ashley. Ashley was also associate director at Bristol-based practice CODA Architects.

What work do you have?
We’re targeting a broad range of projects. At the moment our work is a mix of collaborative ventures, private commissions and consultancy work for other practices. In terms of sectors, it’s a mix of small-scale residential and mid-sized education and commercial projects. About 60 per cent of the work comes to us through existing contacts.

What are your ambitions?
We’re keen not to specialise in one sector. Between us we have commercial, residential, education and healthcare experience. Ideally, we’d like to capitalise on this, attract some larger projects and develop relationships with a range of clients.
Our main focus, however, is to maintain a conceptually rigorous approach and develop a portfolio of beautifully designed and detailed projects that we can be proud of.

How optimistic are you?
Very. In addition to the small-scale residential projects which keep coming in, we are also talking to a number of clients about larger projects. It helps having our workload spread between London and the South-West. The current signs are that we should be in a very good position at the end of our first year.
