MSMR win go-ahead for Marylebone eco-mews


[Fist look + plans + proejct data] Westminster City Council has approved this five-home scheme by MSMR Architects ‘in a quiet Marylebone mews’ in central London

The four-storey townhouses will replace a tired 1970’s slab office building in Clay Street and will be built to Code for Sustainable Homes level 4 or above. The £4million development features integral garage and integrated refuse and recycling points, solar thermal collectors at roof level and sedum flat roofs.

Tom Martin, managing director of project backer Clay Street Properties said: ‘The aim is to return the site to its original residential use in a way that is sympathetic to our neighbours.’

  • £4M for 5 houses = £800K each. Hardly sustainable when you take community issues into account. For that sort of money they should be demanding Code 6 as a minimum.
