Moxon Architects floats new Paddington bridge plans

Moxon Architects has drawn up proposals for a new £1 million ‘quick fix’ bridge at Westbourne Grove, near Paddington, west London

The trussed-lattice link, which has been designed to be put up in ‘one single night-time operation’, could replace the existing, rundown bridge between Westminster Academy and the Westbourne Park area of West London.

Although the practice has yet to find a backer for the project, studio founder Ben Addy said he had ‘already had interesting discussions with various consultants involved in Crossrail’ about the scheme.

Describing the ‘robust’ proposals, Addy said: ‘Given the site constraints, the erection method was the single most important factor in determining the structural form.

‘The straight structural lattice has the potential be laid up adjacent to the tracks for site splicing, lending itself to launching from one abutment to the other.’
