Work on a theatre refurbishment by John Rowe-Parr Architects has started in an old miners' institute in Cwmaman near Aberdare, Mid Glamorgan. The 1000m2 design has room for 300 people. James Partnership is designing an adjoining concert hall, bar and studios for the project costing £2.5 million. The Arts Council is helping with funding and completion is due in early 2000.
