The Millennium Commission has been given the thumbs-up for investing £1.3 billion of National Lottery funds in UK building and regeneration projects. An economic impact study by Gardiner & Theobald and Jura Consultants, commissioned by the government, scrutinised the effectiveness of the commission's three funding programmes - capital projects, the Millennium Award scheme and the Millennium Festival (the umbrella body coordinating year 2000 celebrations).Since 1994, the commission has invested £1.3 billion in 200 building and environmental projects.
