Millennium Environmental Centre

  • Comment

The architects of the £10 million ecos Millennium Environmental Centre in Belfast are proclaiming it a green success story after obtaining figures about how much energy the building creates and uses.

John Lee, project architect with WDR and RT Taggart, told the AJ that the 119 photovoltaic panels have created an above-expectation 2MW of energy since July. Wind turbines will kick in during the winter, which means that 70 per cent of the building's energy will come from renewable sources over the year. 'You're always quite sceptical with these things but it has delivered, ' said Lee.
