Building work has started on epr Architects' conversion of an old tobacco factory into flats in London's Drury Lane. The four-storey factory will have two floors added for penthouse flats, taking the total to 51 apartments up to three-bed size. There will be 4000m2 of ground and basement- level shops and maybe a restaurant or bar. epr is also fitting out 145 Drury Lane, due to finish next April. Client is Taylor Woodrow Capital Developments.

Shepheard Epstein Hunter and Terence O'Rourke are to review their masterplan and complete detailed design for the £141 million revamp of Stonebridge Estate. Nearly 300 homes have been built and 800 more are needed within eight years on the Brentford site, torn apart by riots in the 1980s. Client is Stonebridge Housing Action Trust.
