Marcus Lee, a director at Glenn Howells Architects has left the firm to support his father, former chairman of RMJM in his on-going legal battle

Marcus’s 89-year old father Vernon Lee, who was chairman of RMJM in Scotland from 1985 until 1990, faces a £1m court claim together with former colleague Andrew Derbyshire.

The pair are heading to court over the death of John Miller, a former employee of RMJM whose family are claiming died due to exposure to asbestos during his working life.

A statement by the Birmingham-based practice confirmed that Lee was leaving the company for ‘personal reasons’ but would pursue work in a consultancy role, giving him the ‘flexibility to support his father… in defending a protracted legal claim’.

Glenn Howells, director of Glenn Howells Architects said: ‘I will be very sorry to see Marcus leave. I’ve very much enjoyed our working together after being friends for so many years… we wish Marcus every success in the future and in supporting his father.’

Lee joined Birmingham-based Glenn Howells Architects in 2011, working in the firm’s London office, after a career which included 21 years at Richard Rogers Partnership and five years at FLACQ.

Marcus Lee said: ‘This has not been an easy decision but I am looking forward to pursuing new opportunities. I very much hope that Glenn and I will continue to collaborate in the future.’
