Manchester-based practice Provan & Makin Architects has won planning permission to demolish and redevelop the Prince of Wales building in Manchester's Piccadilly. Planning consent for the 0.5ha site has taken 18 months to secure, and was determined through discussions with planners, local community groups and English Heritage. The scheme includes the creation of a nine-storey residential block, a health club and a new city square.
