Making a splash: Chris Dyson unveils Kensington fountain

  • Comment

[FIRST LOOK + PLANS + DATA] Chris Dyson Architects have installed a hard landscaped garden in west London

The hard landscape, focused on a granite fountain, was designed as little would grow in this private urban garden due to the scale of surrounding buildings. The remote controlled fountain is built over a chamber that contains the pump and reservoir tank.

To allow delivery to site of materials and fountain, which arrived in six sections for the installation, an opening was made in a brick party wall of neighbouring department store to allow access to the garden.

A brick clad steel door, reminiscent of last year’s Small Projects Award winner, the Old Workshop by Jack Woolley, has been installed to maintain access to the courtyard.
