The Skin House Concept is a prototype based on the identification of issues which characterise today's domestic architecture. It discards or updates anachronistic or inefficient practices and elements.
Critical issues addressed include loss of soul, old-fashioned construction systems, and lack of flexibility. This prototype has an outer skin and an inner skin. The inner skin is supported by two tubular beams and two-directional prefabricated timber ribs which follow the diagonal lines to generate a hyperboloid shape.
The house can adapt to family and single units, and also includes space which can be converted to other uses such as offices and workspace. The total area is approximately 190m 2.Ove Arup & Partners and ECDwere consultants on the project.
