The London Planning Advisory Committee has given the thumbs-up to Foster and Partners 'erotic gherkin' - the Sw iss Re Tower.
LPAC said in a report last week that the 180m high, 40 storey, cigar-shaped proposal was 'a very considerable improvement'over the previous mammoth 400m London Millennium Tower scheme and accorded with its policies on tall buildings. 'It is distinctive, innovative and appears very well designed' said LPAC. The 41,810m building on the Baltic Exchange site, which Swiss Re will inhabit, would also contribute 'quantitatively and qualitatively to the stock of office accommodation'.
